Belmopan – U.S. Embassy Belmopan Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Keith Gilges departed
Belize today, May 7, 2020, to receive non-life-threatening but urgent medical care,
unrelated to COVID-19, pursuant to the advice of physicians in Belize and the United
States. Management Officer Robert Peck has assumed the role of Chargé d’Affaires, a.i.
for U.S. Embassy Belmopan until Chargé Gilges returns to Belize.
Before his departure, Chargé Gilges offered sincere thanks for the many messages that he
has received wishing him a speedy recovery and expressed hope that circumstances will
allow him to quickly return to Belize.
