U.S. Embassy Belmopan partnered with the Belmopan City Council to commemorate and launch the fourth annual Belize Screen on the Green monthly movie series with the screening of the movie “MOANA.” The screening focused on Environment and Culture.
The Belize Screen on the Green Movie Series program was created four years ago to promote citizen security and addresses key policy goals through a community based movie screening program that focuses on building people to people connections in the Belmopan area. Belmopan and the surrounding area offer limited extracurricular activities.
Presently there are no movie theaters or formal sports programs for youth in the Belmopan area. The monthly movie series provides an opportunity for youth and families to come together in a safe environment in the evenings and focus on positive activities and learn about important issues.
The movie screening was held on the Governor General’s Field with a short opening ceremony before the screening of the movie. The welcome remarks was done by Deputy Mayor, Ralston Frazer followed by remarks by Chargé d’ Affaires, Adrienne Galanek.
