Emergency Contact Information for U.S. Citizens

Emergency assistance for U.S. citizens is available from the U.S. Embassy 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.  In the event of an arrest, medical emergency, death, or crime,  please don’t hesitate to contact us.  Emergency calls are not to be used for inquiries regarding lost or stolen passports (except in absolute exigent circumstance requiring immediate travel to the U.S.), immigrant or nonimmigrant visa matters.

During regular business hours (Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.), U.S. Citizens with emergencies may appear for assistance in person at the Embassy consular section or may call 822-4011.  After normal business hours, please call 822-4260.  If you are calling from the United States, first dial 011-501 and then the seven digit number.

Please remember that the investigation and prosecution of crimes are solely the responsibility of local authorities, but our consular officers can help you to understand the local criminal justice process and to find an attorney if needed.

For Non-Emergency Issues concerning U.S. citizens, Please e-mail ACSBelize@state.gov
