Acting Deputy Chief of Mission Deborah Lingwood

Deborah Lingwood is a career Foreign Service Officer with twelve years of experience with the Department of State.  She joined U.S. Embassy Belmopan in August 2016 as the Management Officer.  Currently she is serving as the Acting Deputy Chief of Mission.

Before arriving in Belize, Mrs. Lingwood served in Istanbul, Turkey for three years as the General Services Officer.  Prior to that, she served in the Bureau for Conflict and Stabilization Operations as a Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary.

Previous assignments include serving as a Consular Officer in Oslo, Norway and Human Resources Officer in Kazakhstan, which included managing the human resources component of the move from the old capital of Almaty to the new capital, Astana.

Mrs. Lingwood graduated from Georgetown University with a Master’s Degree in Russian Studies.  She also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Russian from Bryn Mawr College.
