Learn, exchange, grow, and serve. The U.S. Department of State offers many programs for non-U.S. citizens wishing to come to the U.S. for cultural, educational, or professional exchange. These programs are augmented by local opportunities in countries around that world that allow non-U.S. citizens to explore U.S. culture and the English language. The United States supports international education and welcomes foreign students and exchange visitors. Before applying for a visa, students and exchange visitors must be accepted by their schools or program sponsors.
American English is a resource center for teaching and learning about American English.

The Public Affairs Section (PAS) is responsible for all media, educational and cultural exchanges, American speaker programs and other public issues in support of the Embassy’s Mission. PAS facilitates several educational exchange programs, including the International Visitor Programs and Hubert. H. Humphrey Fellowship Program for a numerous of local contacts.

2024 Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP)
The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) of the U.S. Department of State announces an open competition for organizations to submit applications to participating U.S. embassies for funding through the U.S. Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) to carry out an individual project to preserve cultural heritage in a specific priority country. Issuance of this funding opportunity does not constitute an award commitment on the part of the U.S. government. Full implementation of this program is subject to the availability of funds.
